Additional Needs Team
This is a local authority borough wide service
The Additional Needs Team provides outreach support and CPD for Primary and High Schools to support the inclusion of pupils with a range of additional needs: cognition and learning; communication difficulties (autistic spectrum disorders); speech, language and communication; physical difficulties and medical conditions. It also includes the Portage service, supporting children with disabilities from birth to three years.
We offer home visits fortnightly to children with additional needs 0-5years (0-3 if the child is in receipt of 3 year funding in nursery/childminder).
Portage supports the child's learning and development but also supports the family. Support may be with DLA applications, sign posting, referrals, attending CIN.TAF meetings or as the lead professional
We run a drop in library session twice s month where people get a one to one face to face advice, demo and IT service from one of our volunteers. Refreshments also provided to give mums the opportunity to socialise with one another
