Stonewall are Britain's leading gay equality organisation, and the council aim to work with them to improve their working environment and further develop a workplace culture which will allow employees to be valued for themselves and give 100%. The Council's success will be measured in the Workplace Equality Index which Stonewall publish annually.

In the 2013 Workplace Equality Index, Bury Council were delighted to obtain 37th place.
