RSPH (Royal Society for Public Health) Understanding Health Improvement
Level 1 and 2 Award
This is a nationally recognised level 1/ 2 course that introduces participants to factors influencing health and wellbeing and how to help people make lifestyle changes which improve their health.
Who would benefit from this course?
The qualification is for existing or aspiring care workers, health champions and volunteers who wish to improve the health and wellbeing of people in their local community by motivating and encouraging them to make positive lifestyle choices. Community workers, health advisors, pharmacy assistants and anyone in the wider public health workforce will also benefit from this qualification. The qualification also provides a foundation for those considering a Health Trainer role. It is mapped to the National Occupational Standards and functions of the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework (PHSKF) and Making Every Contact Count (MECC) guidelines.

- Understand basic communication skills and how they can support health messages
- Understand the need for confidentiality
- How to help people access further assistance toward adopting and maintaining a healthier lifestyle

Course details:
The course is offered on a rolling programme and delivered over 1 day 9:00am until 5pm. The course ends with a short multiple choice test which is marked externally.
